Harvest 2009

With all of the excitement over the first bottle of the 2008 vintage, it may feel as though we've been neglecting the 2009 harvest.  In fact, we're counting down the days until the process of sorting, soaking, fermenting, and pressing begins anew.   Overall, it's been a great growing year in California - the right amount of rain at the right time, the right amount of heat and sun at the right time, and the right amount of cooling at the right time.  If anything, there's probably going to be an abundance of grapes this year - giving us the pick of the litter to choose from.

Also, as annoucned a few months ago, we're adding a third wine to our line-up for 2009, a Sonoma Coast pinot from the Split Rock (Gap's Crown) vineyard.  We're very excited to add this select fruit from a first-class grower to our offering.

We expect to begin the day trips up to SF next week (the week of 9/14).  As with last year, we're issuing an open invitation to Brigade members who are interested in learning more about the wine-making process to join us.  The only caveat is that we don't get much advance notice for when we need to be at the winery (usually just 24-hours) .  But if you're in the area (or willing to fly on short notice) we can promise a fun - and messy - day of winemaking.
